British writer, born in Bournemouth. After the publication and the prosecution of 'The well of loneliness' Radclyffe Hall lived abroad for a couple of years. She died in London of cancer.

South African politician, born as Cecil John Rhodes in Bishops Stortford, England. At the age of 17 he was sent to South Africa because of ill health. He made a fortune at the diamond fields of Kimberley. He became a statesman of South Africa and in 1890 became Prime Minister of the Cape Colony. Rhodes died in Cape Town.

German writer, actor and filmdirector, who was born in Rhine, Westphalia. He studied pedagogy and became a teacher, but kept silent about his homosexuality. When he came out publicly he lost his job. Ripploh wrote short stories under the name Peggy von Schnottgenberg. He died of cancer.
