Peter Tetteroo Mark Tewksbury (February 7, 1968) Canadian Olympic swimmer, who set seven world records at the 1992 Olympic games. Mark Tewksbury is an out gay athlete and accomplished Canadian swimmer, having won medals at both the Seoul and Barcelona Olympic Games. After his 1993 retirement, Mark remained active in the international world of sport. As a member of the Canadian Olympic Association, Honorary Secretary of FINA’s Athletes’ Commission, executive Board Member of the Toronto 2008 Olympic bid, and athlete’s representative on the IOC’s 2004 Site Evaluation Commission, he was devoted to making the voice of athletes heard and promoting the true spirit of sport. He stunned the world in 1999, by stepping down from all his posts within the Olympic movement due to a loss of faith in leadership, as derived from the IOC’s bribery scandal. He went on to co-found OATH (Olympic Advocates Together Honorably), the first independent, international, athlete-lead organization in the world dedicated to restoring the Olympic spirit and creating constructive solutions to the problems facing international sport. Mark is currently working as the chair of OATH. Heart has always been the part of Mark Tewksbury that has made him a charismatic Olympian and compassionate humanitarian. As a motivational speaker, Mark continues to mesmerize groups of all ages with his honesty, sincerity, genuineness, humor and story telling.  Martha Carey Thomas (January 2, 1857 - December 2, 1935) American pioneer, educator and feminist, who was born in Baltimore, Maryland. After the local dame's school she attented her education ended and she became yealous of the opportunities her brothers got in education. Martha persuaded her father in 1872 to allow her to attend a newly opened school for girls in New York, after which she went to Cornell University. In 1877, she applied to John Hopkins University. She was reluctantly admitted, the first woman to enter a Hopkins graduate course. She was however prohibited from attending lectures and after completing one year, she withdrew. While studying in Europe she heard of a proposed women's college at Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, of which she in 1894 became president, serving untill 1922.
